89 ABOUT THE AUTHOR Geoff Wilde has been a member of the ACS since 1976 and boasts a record of consecutive AGM attendances second only to that of Rob Brooke. Southport born, he has lived most of his life in nearby Crosby where he attended Merchant Taylors’ School before dropping out at 18 to become a Chartered Accountant. He took early retirement at 51 to concentrate on his obsession with sports statistics, producing the Brian Statham book for this series and, with Michael Braham, the 728-page tome The Sandgrounders - the Complete League History of Southport F.C. Now 61, he still attempts to play cricket, golf and squash on a regular basis, whilst pursuing his rock climbing activities during the summer months.
