Man of the Match: Rashid Khan. This was the first Test between these countries. Afghanistan’s total of 342 was their best in Tests (previously 314 v Ireland at Dehra Dun in 2018/19). Rahmat Shah’s 102 was Afghanistan’s first Test century and surpassed his own previous record Afghan score of 98 v Ireland at Dehra Dun in 2018/19. Afghanistan set new national partnership records of 120, 81, 30 and 25 for the 4th, 6th, 7th and 8th wickets respectively. With 5-55 in the first innings and 6-49 in the second, Rashid Khan twice improved upon the previous best for Afghanistan, his own 5-82 v Ireland at Dehra Dun in 2018/19; likewise his match analysis of 11-104 was a newAfghan record, surpassing his own 7-102 in the same match. Rashid Khan, aged 20y 350d, became the youngest Test captain ever (previously T.Taibu, 20y 358d). Rahmat Shah passed 1,000 runs in first-class matches when he reached 67 in the first innings. Mosaddek Hossain passed 3,000 runs in first-class matches when he reached 7 in the first innings. Taijul Islam reached 100 wickets in Test matches when taking his 1st wicket in the Afghanistan first innings.
