Toss: Bloomfield Cricket and Athletic Club This was the first first-class match ever to be completed in a single day in Sri Lanka, the first such match anywhere since Griqualand West v Easterns at Kimberley in 2010/11 and only the second since 1960 (note that this excludes matches forfeited or conceded and single-innings contests on the final day of rain-affected matches). At 480 balls, it was the shortest ever first-class match in Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka Navy’s total of 36 was jointly the third lowest in Sri Lanka (three previous instances). R.M.G.K.Sirisoma’s innings figures of 6-2 were the cheapest six-for in Sri Lanka (previously 6-7 by K.J.Silva for Sinhalese v Panadura at Panadura in 1995/96); there have been two other instances of 6-2 in first-class cricket and three of 6-1. Sirisoma’s match figures of 11-14 are the cheapest 11-for in all first-class cricket (previously 11-16 by P.Acharya for Bengal v Tripura at Agartala in 1995/96); it was the third time that ten or more wickets have been taken in a match for only 14 runs, and there has been only one previous instances of a cheaper ten-wicket match return (10-11 by A.Bhattacharjee for Bengal v Assam at Jorhat in 1974/75).
