K.K.Leokaoke was a full substitute for North West, replacing C.J.Alexander (called up to play for Lions on day 2). This was in breach of ICC regulations, which allow full substitutes for call-ups and releases for the international side, not for other domestic teams (even if more senior). There had been several similar instances in last season’s 3-day tournament, to which the ICC had responded by allowing the matches involved to retain their first-class status despite the infringement, while issuing a stern warning against any repetition. Accordingly, this game was stripped of its first-class status. It continued to count towards the competition’s league table, although North West forfeited all points gained from the match.
