Man of the Match: Yasir Shah. H.M.Nicholls passed 1,000 runs in Test matches when he reached 67 in the second innings. Yasir Shah’s 8-41 in New Zealand’s first innings, in which he took his last 7 wickets in 27 balls, was the third best bowling for Pakistan in a Test, and the best ever against New Zealand in a Test (previously 8-53 by G.B.Lawrence for South Africa at Johannesburg in 1961/62). Pakistan’s previous best innings figures against New Zealand were 7-52 by Intikhab Alam at Dunedin in 1972/73. Yasir’s match figures of 14-184 were the second best ever for Pakistan (after Imran Khan’s 14-116 v Sri Lanka at Lahore in 1981/82); Pakistan’s previous best against New Zealand was 12-130 by Waqar Younis at Faisalabad in 1990/91. The total of 6 ducks in New Zealand’s first innings equalled the Test record (four previous instances), and was a new record for New Zealand.
