D.T.Tiripano passed 2,000 runs in first-class matches when he reached 3 in the first innings. During Rhinos’first innings a batsman deliberately ran onto the danger area of the wicket. 5 penalty runs were awarded to Mountaineers, so their reply began at 5-0. This explains how their first wicket fell at 5 even though it was the first ball of the innings. Later in the Mountaineers’first innings, the Rhinos’captain, T.K.Musakanda, having left the field for some legitimate purpose, returned without clearance from the umpires and incurred a further 5-run penalty to Mountaineers.
