T.A.Boult ended Sri Lanka’s first innings by taking 4 wickets in 9 balls, 5 in 11, and 6 in 15; and he took another with his sixth delivery of the second innings to complete a sequence of 7 wickets in 21 balls. 5 wickets in 11 balls was a new Test record (there had previously been three instances of 5 in 12), and 6 in 15 equalled the Test record set by J.J.C.Lawson for West Indies v Bangladesh at Dhaka in 2002/03.
