U.T.Yadav reached 100 wickets in Test matches when taking his 1st wicket in the Afghanistan first innings. Afghanistan became the twelfth Test nation. The side contained 11 Test debutants, the first such instance since Sri Lanka’s inaugural Test in 1981/82. One of them, Mujeeb Zadran, was the first since Nazmul Hossain of Bangladesh in 2004/05 to make his first-class debut in a Test. He was born on 28 March 2001, making him the first Test player born in the 21st century. S.Dhawan, 104* at lunch on day 1, was the sixth player, but first Indian, to score a century before lunch on the first day of a Test. 24 wickets fell on day 2, the most since 25 fell on day 1 of the second Test between Australia and England at Melbourne in 1901/02. Afghanistan were dismissed twice in a day, the fourth such instance in Tests. The margin of an innings and 262 runs was India’s biggest Test win (previously an innings and 239, for which see page 225). 667 India in 2018
