ACS Overseas First-Class Annual 2018
Central Districts’ slow left-armer Ajaz Patel, originally from Mumbai and one of the increasing number of New Zealand cricketers of Indian origin, led the season’s bowling with 48 wickets at 21.52. All his wickets came in the Plunket Shield, and it was the second season in succession that he had been the most prolific bowler in the competition. In second place, and the leading quicker bowler, was Canterbury’s local-born, but Dutch-qualified, Logan van Beek with 40 wickets at the exceptional average of only 14.47.
