Referee: Zarab Shah Zaheer. Toss: Speen Ghar Region Close of Play: 1st day: Boost Region (1) 348-8 (Khaibar Omar 103, Ahsanullah 5, 98 overs); 2nd day: Speen Ghar Region (1) 378-1 (Nasir Khan 166, Bahir Shah 149, 89 overs); 3rd day: Boost Region (2) 71-6 (Mohammad Ibrahim 2, Munir Ahmad 5, 24 overs). Man of the Match: Bahir Shah. Bahir Shah’s 303*, the first triple century in Afghanistan, remained the Afghan record for highest individual innings at the end of the season. He was aged 18y 261d; only Javed Miandad, 17y 311d, has scored a first-class triple hundred at an earlier age. He was the first in first-class cricket to score two double centuries in the first four matches of his career (but see page 40), and at the end of this match he had struck 831 runs in his first six first-class innings, beating the previous record of 741 by W.H.Ponsford. The 311 added for the 2nd wicket by Nasir Khan and Bahir Shah remained the Afghan record for that wicket at the end of the season, and further Afghan records, all beaten later in the season, were set for the highest (648-7d) and lowest (155) team scores and for the 3rd wicket (144 by Nazir Ahmed and Karim Sadiq). This was a new first-class ground. 20 Afghanistan in 2017/18
