Man of the Match: Bahir Shah. This was, jointly with the game on the previous page, the first first-class match in Afghanistan. This was, therefore, a new first-class ground. 21 players were on first-class debut. One of these, Mohammad Ibrahim (Speen Ghar), should not be confused with the Boost cricketer of the same name, who made his first-class debut in the next round of matches. Bahir Shah made the first first-class century in Afghanistan and when the innings was declared he had advanced to 256*, only just short of the record by a player on debut, 260 by A.A.Muzumdar for Bombay v Haryana in 1993/94. In Speen Ghar (1), each of the first four wickets added at least 100, the fifth instance in first-class cricket; the 291 added for the 4th wicket by Bahir Shah and Shawkat Zaman remained the Afghan record for that wicket at the end of the season. It was the largest partnership in first-class cricket between two players on debut, beating the previous record set in India earlier the same month (see page 157). Haji Murad afforded the eighth instance of a century in each innings on first-class debut. 14 Afghanistan in 2017/18
