ACS Overseas First-Class Annual 2017
Rest of the World in 2016/17 This section includes the inaugural first-class matches in Hong Kong and Papua New Guinea, both of which formed part of the 2015-17 Intercontinental Cup, which also accounted for a game in the UAE. For more details of the Intercontinental Cup, and a table as at the end of the 2017 season, see the ‘Matches in 2017’ section. Namibia’s five home matches in the South African Three-Day tournament are also included in this section. The final table, which appears in the South Africa section, shows that Namibia’s poor record continues; however, they did have the unusual distinction of defeating South Western Districts at Oudtshoorn despite being dismissed for a paltry 44 on being put in to bat. In the UAE, Pakistan’s ‘hosted’ a West Indies tour involving three Tests and one other first-class game. The other two matches in this section, both at Abu Dhabi, were between Afghanistan and an experimental (but victorious) England Lions side and, as has become customary, between MCC and the reigning county champions, Middlesex (who won by one wicket in a desperate finish).
