R.M.G.K.Sirisoma reached 500 wickets in first-class matches when taking his 5th wicket in the Kalutara Physical Culture Centre first innings. T.C.B.Fernando retired hurt in the Panadura Sports Club first innings having scored 45 (team score 344-5, 63.2 overs). There were 5 stumpings in Panadura's first innings, a first-class record for Sri Lanka (there had been three instances of 4 stumpings). On the final day 607 runs were scored from the equivalent of 60 overs, a new Sri Lanka first-class record for runs in a day. The match was the subject of an inquiry ordered by Sri Lanka Cricket and it was announced on 17 September that both teams would forfeit the points gained from this match and it would be disregarded for the purposes of the Tier B table. Both clubs were fined; the captains were suspended for two years and the other 20 players for a year (although this decision is subject to an appeal).
