Third umpire: T.Sharma. Referee: S.Chaturvedi. Toss: Tamil Nadu Close of Play: 1st day: Tamil Nadu (1) 261-6 (Shankar 41, Crist 9, 90 overs); 2nd day: Mumbai (1) 171-4 (Tare 19, Iyer 24, 60 overs); 3rd day: Mumbai (1) 406 all out; 4th day: Mumbai (2) 5-0 (Shaw 2, Waghela 3, 5 overs). Man of the Match: P.P.Shaw. S.S.Iyer passed 3,000 runs in first-class matches when he reached 8 in the first innings. S.N.Thakur passed 1,000 runs in first-class matches when he reached 10 in the first innings. Prithvi P.Shaw of Mumbai, on first-class debut above, should not be confused with Pankaj P.Shaw of Bengal. In the Tamil Nadu second innings five penalty runs were awarded to the fielding side at over 73.2 to penalize the batting team for running on the wicket. The runs were therefore added to the Mumbai first innings under Law 41.18.4, retrospectively increasing the total from 406 to 411. This accounts for the fact that score at the fall of the Mumbai 10th wicket and at the end of day 3 are both given as 406, whereas the innings total is given as 411. 227 India in 2016/17
