G.Gambhir retired hurt with a shoulder injury in the India second innings having scored 6 (team score 11-0, 2.5 overs) - he returned when the score was 34-1. R.Ashwin's 13-140 was India's best match analysis in a Test against New Zealand (previously his own 12-85 at Hyderabad in 2012). The 365 added by V.Kohli and A.M.Rahane was the seventh best in all Tests for the 4th wicket, and India's best for that wicket (previously 353 by S.R.Tendulkar and V.V.S.Laxman against Australia at Sydney in 2003/04; previous best against New Zealand, 281 by S.R.Tendulkar and S.C.Ganguly at Ahmedabad in 1999/00).
