New Zealand's 624 and L.R.P.L.Taylor's 290 set new records for the highest total and best individual score for New Zealand in a Test against Australia (previously 553-7d and 188 by M.D.Crowe, both at Brisbane in 1985/86). Taylor's innings was the highest ever made by a visiting batsman in a Test in Australia (previously 287 by R.E.Foster for England at Sydney in 1903/04); only L.Hutton (364 for England at the Oval in 1938) has made a higher Test score against Australia. D.A.Warner's score of 253 was the highest individual score for Australia in Tests against New Zealand (previously 250 by K.D.Walters at Christchurch in 1976/77). The 302 added for the second wicket in Australia (1) and 265 for the third wicket in New Zealand (1) were records for these wickets for the respective countries in Tests between Australia and New Zealand.
