Man of the Match: M.D.Craig. Mohammad Hafeez passed 10,000 runs in first-class matches when he reached 82 in the first innings. M.D.Craig passed 1,000 runs in first-class matches when he reached 42 in the first innings. T.G.Southee passed 1,000 runs in Test matches when he reached 41 in the first innings. New Zealand's 690 was a new national Test record (previously 680-8d against India at Wellington in 2013/14); it was also the second highest total ever conceded by Pakistan. B.B.McCullum reached his century off 78 balls, which was a New Zealand record (previously 81 by L.R.P.L.Taylor v Australia at Hamilton in 2009/10) until McCullum himself improved upon it later in the season (see page 222). McCullum's 200, reached in 186 balls, was the fourth fastest by balls in Tests. The match was originally scheduled for 26-30 November but it was decided not to play on 27 November as a mark of respect for P.J.Hughes, who died that day. The match would have continued on 1 December had a fifth day been needed. 605 United Arab Emirates in 2014/15
