Third umpire: Anisur Rahman. Referee: D.C.Boon. Toss: Sri Lanka Close of Play: 1st day: Sri Lanka (1) 314-5 (Sangakkara 160*, Vithanage 0*, 92 overs); 2nd day: Bangladesh (1) 86-1 (Shamsur Rahman 45*, Imrul Kayes 36*, 25 overs); 3rd day: Bangladesh (1) 409-8 (Mahmudullah 30*, Al-Amin Hossain 3*, 115 overs); 4th day: Bangladesh (2) 12-0 (Tamim Iqbal 7*, Shamsur Rahman 4*, 8 overs). Man of the Match: K.C.Sangakkara. K.C.Sangakkara passed 11,000 runs in Test matches when he reached 273 in the first innings. Shamsur Rahman passed 4,000 runs in first-class matches when he reached 67 in the first innings. Imrul Kayes passed 3,000 runs in first-class matches when he reached 109 in the first innings. K.C.Sangakkara passed 16,000 runs in first-class matches when he reached 89 in the second innings. By scoring a triple century and century, K.C.Sangakkara emulated the feat of G.A.Gooch (333 & 123 for England v India at Lord's in 1990); these two instances are unique in both Test and first-class cricket. Sangakkara's performance was the 7th instance in Tests of a double century and century in the same match, and the first by Sri Lanka. Sangakkara's 319 was Sri Lanka's highest individual score against Bangladesh (beating his own 222* at Kandy in 2007) and the 3rd-highest individual innings by Sri Lanka in all Tests; and it was the highest conceded by Bangladesh, beating 261* by R.R.Sarwan for West Indies at Kingston in 2004. It was also the highest individual score in first-class cricket in Bangladesh (previously 313* by Raqibal Hasan for Barisal Division against Sylhet Division at Fatullah in 2006/07). The 232 added for the 2nd wicket in Bangladesh's first innings was a Test record for Bangladesh for that wicket (previously 200 by Tamim Iqbal and Junaid Siddique against India at Mirpur in 2009/10) and Bangladesh's second highest for any Test wicket. In Sri Lanka's first innings, the 100 added for the 8th wicket was a record for that wicket for Sri Lanka against Bangladesh; and in Bangladesh's second innings, the 120* added for the 4th wicket was a record for that wicket for Bangladesh against Sri Lanka. 85 Bangladesh in 2013/14
