Third umpire: Enamul Haque. Referee: J.Srinath. Toss: New Zealand Close of Play: 1st day: New Zealand (1) 280-5 (Martin 0*, 89.5 overs); 2nd day: Bangladesh (1) 103-2 (Marshall Ayub 21*, Mominul Haque 77*, 26 overs); 3rd day: Bangladesh (1) 380-7 (Sohag Gazi 28*, Abdur Razzak 1*, 116 overs); 4th day: New Zealand (2) 117-1 (Fulton 44*, Williamson 28*, 40 overs). Man of the Match: Sohag Gazi. Shakib Al Hasan passed 2,000 runs in Test matches when he reached 16 in the first innings. Mushfiqur Rahim passed 2,000 runs in Test matches when he reached 7 in the first innings. Tamim Iqbal passed 4,000 runs in first-class matches when he reached 19 in the second innings. Sohag Gazi took a hat-trick in the New Zealand second innings (Anderson, Watling, Bracewell). This was the 40th hat-trick in Test cricket and the second for Bangladesh. Sohag Gazi's feat of scoring a century and taking a hat-trick in the same match is unique in Test cricket. It was his second such performance in first-class matches (previously for Barisal Division v Khulna Division at Khulna in 2012/13); he shares with M.J.Procter the distinction of achieving the feat twice in first-class cricket. In New Zealand's first innings, the stands of 126 (2nd wicket), 57 (8th) and 127 (10th) were records for their respective wickets for New Zealand against Bangladesh. In Bangladesh's first innings, the 105 added for the 9th wicket was a record for that wicket for Bangladesh against New Zealand. 74 Bangladesh in 2013/14
