Malan was replaced whilst actually batting and was therefore allowed to retire ‘not out’. However, the published card implies that van Buuren immediately replaced Malan at the crease. This was not so: van Buuren should be shown as batting (10), meaning (since Malan was not dismissed) that he batted at the fall of the 7th wicket (Links) and was dismissed after 2 balls (the 8th wicket). The card as published shows van Buuren twice and omits the last man, L.Manzini, who was lbw b Leie 14 (25 balls, 29 mins, 2 4s). This means that twelve men batted during this innings: consequently the fall of the last Northerns wicket should be shown as 302(12). 511 In paragraph 7 it is incorrectly stated that four teams, two in each Group, won seven matches.
