ACS Overseas FIrst-Class Annual 2012

Advance Subscribers It is common for the author or compiler of a published work to express gratitude to some supporter or collaborator ‘without whom, this book would not have been possible’. And in the case of a publication like the ACS Overseas First-Class Annual, the use of this familiar formula is justified many times over, as has been recorded in the acknowledgments on the previous page. But there is one category of supporter whose importance transcends all others, particularly for a publication that forms a regular series. Without its customers – the men and women that purchase the Annual each September – it would indeed be true to say that this book would not exist. Never has this been more clearly demonstrated that during the spring of 2012, when the ACS Committee, concerned about the level of sales, decided to test the market for the Annual by inviting advance subscriptions at a much higher price. The Committee set a sales target to be reached by the end of May if publication was to go ahead, and it is with great pleasure that we list on the facing page those advance subscribers that agreed that if the Annual proceeded, their names should be published. To them, and to the further subscribers that requested anonymity, we take this opportunity to record the Association’s gratitude and appreciation. 8
