ACS Overseas First-Class Annual 2010

Australia in 2009/10 The Australian season of 2009/10 consisted of 39 matches. 31 of these were in the Sheffield Shield. In addition, West Indies and Pakistan both toured, each playing three Tests and one other first-class game. The Australian Test side, smarting from the loss of the Ashes in England in 2009, reasserted its dominance in both home rubbers, winning 2-0 against West Indies before humbling Pakistan with a 3-0 whitewash. Australia was to maintain this impressive Test form in New Zealand later in the season (see the New Zealand section). The Sheffield Shield was played in its customary format of home-and-away league matches between the six states, followed by a final between the top two. The competition was a triumph for Victoria, which went through the league matches unbeaten before crushing Queensland in the final to retain the title.
