ACS Overseas First-Class Annual 2009

General notes to the scores This Annual includes all 589 first-class matches played during the 2008/09 cricket season. It also includes 24 matches designated as belonging to the 2008 season, but not the 172 matches played in England and Wales in 2008, which are found in the 2009 Wisden . The Annual thus includes 613 matches, which are arranged in eleven sections. The first section covers the 2008 season. The remaining sections cover cricket in 2008/09 in the various ICC member countries, with a final section for matches played in the rest of the world. Each section begins with a brief introduction, the purpose of which is to explain the competitive context in which matches take place. For each country, the structure of the first-class season is outlined, beginning with Test matches and other games of an international character, then referring to the domestic first-class tournament (or tournaments). The introductions also include final tables for competitions conducted on a league basis. A full score is provided for each match. All reasonable efforts have been made to ensure that these scores are accurate and complete, although the editor will be glad to hear of any corrections or omissions. For the great majority of matches, supplementary details are supplied, such as the batsman out at the fall of each wicket and particulars for the balls, minutes, and boundaries for individual innings. It is regretted that in some cases, it has not been possible to trace this information. Brief footnotes indicate players’ career milestones and other remarkable or unusual events. Full batting and bowling averages for the 2008/09 season will be found, together with averages from the 2009 season in England and elsewhere, in the next ACS International Cricket Year Book , due to be published in March 2010. The Year Book will also include a complete register of all first-class matches played throughout the world during the 2008/09 and 2009 seasons, and details of all first-class players appearing in 2008/09 and 2009, including their full names, date and place of birth, and batting and bowling styles. 14
