Cambridgeshire were only able to field ten men as W A G Pratt had been called up to the Yeomanry at very short notice; Norfolk’s Gibson fielded as a substitute. To add to the visitors’ woes, Sadler’s arm became too swollen to bowl on the second day and he did not bat in the second innings. For the winners there were 10 fours in Stevens’ 68. M Falcon took 6 wickets for 59 runs in Cambridgeshire’s first innings, during which he bowled unchanged, and 6 for 16 in their second innings, giving him match figures of 12 wickets for 75 runs. In the second innings he took 5 wickets in 8 balls, including a hat-trick of G A Rose, Coulson, and L Rose; Cambridgeshire were bowled out in just 17.2 overs, with the last five wickets all falling at the total of just 46. It was reported that the wicket was lively with a lot of bounce and several batsmen were hit on the body.
