The match between the two sides at Cambridge in July was won by Cambridgeshire. For Suffolk Bird scored 110 not out in 2 hours and 40 minutes with 12 fours. With Bassett he added 81 runs for the seventh wicket and with Penfold 58 for the ninth wicket in the Suffolk first innings. Penfold took 11 wickets in the match for 157 runs, including 5 for 84 in the first innings and 6 for 73 in the second.
