For the winners Hawksworth’s 56 in their second innings was the highest score of the match. He added 108 for the 10th wicket with Bailey, whose unbeaten 44 was the second highest innings in the match. Hawksworth also took 7 wickets for 21 runs in the Dorset second innings. Morres had figures of 9 wickets for 92 runs in the match, including 7 for 50 in the Dorset first innings. For Dorset Lye and Walby top-scored with 33 apiece, Lye being not out. Walby took 5 wickets for 36 runs and Hartley took 5 for 48 in the Berkshire first innings. Webb took 6 wickets for 64 runs in the Berkshire second innings. Goodden took 4 catches in the match whilst Barrow and H W F B Farrer each took 3 catches. Towards the end of the Dorset first innings, umpire Wrigley was injured when H W F B Farrer, who was attempting a quick run, collided with him and accidently struck the umpire’s head with his bat handle. Although the injury was not serious, it was deemed inadvisable for Wrigley to officiate for the rest of the day and Croome, the groundsman, stood in his place. Bowling in Dorset first innings adds up one short.
