For the winners Meakin scored 116 in 2 hours 40 minutes which included 10 fours. Taylor scored 102 which included 1 six, 1 five, and 13 fours in 1 hour 40 mins. They added 159 for the fifth wicket. On the second day Surrey resumed their first innings on 84 for 5 wickets but after fifteen minutes play, they were all out for an additional four runs. Sedgwick took 5 wickets for 30 runs. For Surrey Sandham was the top scorer with 48 and Myers took 7 wickets for 120 in the Staffordshire innings.
