For Staffordshire Heath, in the Northumberland first innings repeated his performance at Durham on Monday by again accomplishing a hat-trick (Skinner, Towler and Hickton). On the second day, Sedgwick captured five more wickets for 17 runs to finish with 7 for 53. In the Staffordshire first innings Heath scored 58 which contained 10 fours. For Northumberland Stanger-Leathes top-scored in the first innings with 33 and was the last man out. In their second innings Milne scored 39 with 8 fours. The first day saw an estimated crowd of nearly 4,000.
