Play had continued until 7.00 pm on the first day with stumps being set to be drawn at 5.00pm on the second day. For the winners there was 1 five and 10 fours in Sandham’s 79 and 1 six and 9 fours in Rutty’s 72; together they added 100 for the fourth wicket in only 45 minutes. In the Surrey second innings Spring made a cut for an all-run 7. Sullivan took 2 catches and made 2 stumpings in the match.
