As mentioned in the book’s introduction, Kevin Clement produced the biographies of those who died while serving their country. The appreciation of colleagues for the assistance given by the County Record Offices and County Libraries up and down the country must be recorded, as must that of the National Archive at Kew and, also the staff at the reading room at the British Library on Euston Road, London, from where the national collection of British newspapers is administered. This publication marks the 20th annual in this series that commenced with the start of the Minor Counties Championship in 1895. The scores produced by the project are recognised as the official scores for the championship by both the National Counties Cricket Association and the Association of Cricket Statisticians. As can be seen above, the production of these annuals has been the result of a major team effort. A total of 75 individuals have contributed to this series which has been the largest project ever undertaken by the ACS. For the series to continue though from 1920, some replacement county representatives will be required and, in particular, a new editor will need to be found. Although all contributions to these books have been valuable, it seems an appropriate time to acknowledge the very significant influence of the following people: Tony Webb – the originator of this project back in 1999, Tony was editor of the annuals covering the years 1895 to 1906. He supplied the draft scorecards for these and all subsequent years, a major undertaking. In addition his immense collection of around 90,000 press cuttings has been the main source of match reports and other related information. He assembled the 26
