The Minor Counties were weakened by the absence of Sidney Barnes through injury and the unavailability of Michael Falcon. In the MCC innings Hearne scored a brilliant 228 in only 170 minutes with 3 sixes and 26 fours. He added 237 for the first wicket with Tarrant who scored 77 and 140 for the second wicket with McIver who made 58. Hendren then scored 63 in just 35 minutes with 3 sixes, 1 five, and 6 fours, adding 76 with McIver. The MCC declared their innings at 538 for 6 wickets, compiled in only 4¼ hours. Pegler took 6 for 60 in the Minor Counties first innings. For the Minor Counties Titchmarsh and Riches put on 107 in 80 minutes for the first wicket in their second innings before Titchmarsh was run out for 61 which contained 8 fours. Riches batted just under 3 hours for his 74 which included 6 fours.
