Monmouthshire took the first innings points in this return fixture, having beaten Cornwall by an innings earlier in the season. Silverlock’s unbeaten innings of 179 was scored in a little over 5 hours and included 2 sixes and 22 fours. E S Phillips’ innings of 121 was compiled in less than 2 hours and included 1 six and 19 fours. Silverlock and Phillips added 198 for Monmouthshire’s fourth wicket and the former also added 114 for the sixth wicket with Robathan. Williams took 4 wickets in Cornwall’s innings. For the visitors Port scored 52 and there were 3 sixes and 9 fours in Davies’ unbeaten 65. Davies added 87 for Cornwall’s ninth wicket with Hawken. Whiting took 4 wickets for 114 runs in Monmouthshire’s innings. It was feared at one time that the Suffragettes would interfere with the match. However they did not interfere with the pitch, although they had attempted to set fire to the pavilion.
