Ten batsmen reached double figures in the Durham innings but only Common, “showing fine skill and judgement”, made a half-century, scoring 65 not out. Morris and Parkin both took 10 wickets in the match. Morris took 6 for 45 and 4 for 55 to give combined figures of 10 for 100. Parkin took 4 for 36 and 6 for 72 to give a total of 10 for 108. For the losers, Morrison scored 69 not out with 1 six, 1 five, and 8 fours in Northumberland’s second innings. In that innings T Bulmer, the Durham secretary, fielded as a substitute until Kinch arrived and caught Meldon at mid-off.
