For the winners there were 15 fours in J C Bickford- Smith’s 87 not out and in Cornwall’s second innings he added 85 for the ninth wicket with Hawken. Whiting took 8 wickets for 31 runs in Dorset’s first innings and 9 wickets for 80 in their second, giving him match figures of 17 for 111. He was the third bowler to take 17 wickets in a Championship match (after H E White of Hertfordshire and S F Barnes of Staffordshire). Five of his victims fell to catches off his own bowling. For the losers there were 10 fours in Sewell’s 55 and Farrer scored 55 not out. In Dorset’s second innings Farrer and Parke added 85 for the 9th wicket. Walby took 5 wickets for 43 runs in Cornwall’s first innings and had match figures of 9 for 111.
