Bedfordshire won by six wickets before lunch on the second day but not before 4 wickets fell in their second innings when only 13 runs were required to win. For the winners there were 12 fours in Wharmby’s 71 and 6 in Newman’s 50. In the Bedfordshire first innings Newman and Graham put on 64 runs for the seventh wicket. For the visitors Hazelton took 6 wickets in the Bedfordshire first innings for 85 runs. On the first day early in the Bedfordshire first innings W Adams was hurt while fielding and H Baker acting as his substitute caught Apthorp. Subsequently Apthorp agreed that H Baker could replace Adams and bat in the Buckinghamshire second innings.
