Berkshire were set an easy target of 77 in 90 minutes on a wicket which was still good but collapsed as Light and Wreford bowled unchanged. For the winners there were 8 fours in Carroll’s 51 and 7 in his 57. There were 6 fours in Knight’s 63 and 9 fours in Cruwys’ 60. In Devon’s second innings Arundell was hit on the knee and had to retire hurt. Wreford had match figures of 10 wickets for 135 runs, including 7 for 103 in Berkshire’s first innings. Light had match figures of 9 wickets for 149 runs, including 7 for 40 in Berkshire’s second innings. Davies took 3 catches and made 2 stumpings in the match. Both Light and Knight took 3 catches in the match. For the losers there were 1 six and 13 fours in Collins’ 91 and 8 fours in Hawksworth's 52; the latter put on 65 for the eighth wicket with Nepean in Berkshire’s first innings. Hawksworth had match figures of 13 wickets for 130 runs, including 6 for 49 in Devon’s first innings and 7 for 81 in their second.
