THE MINOR COUNTIES CHAMPIONSHIP 1913 INTRODUCTION This book contains the match scores, a statistical survey and the full averages, both by county and by player in alphabetical order, for 1913, which was the nineteenth season of the Minor Counties Championship. It follows the same format as the previous ACS publications which covered the first eighteen seasons of the competition. THE ANNUAL MEETING The Annual Meeting of the Minor Counties’ Cricket Association was held in the committee room at Lord's on the morning of Tuesday 10 December, 1912. It was a short meeting as there was no business of a contentiousness nature to discuss. The following representatives from affiliated counties were in attendance:- BEDFORDSHIRE – Messrs R W Allen and W W Marks BERKSHIRE – Sir C E M Y Nepean and Major C Turner BUCKINGHAMSHIRE – Mr E H D Sewell CAMBRIDGESHIRE – Major Oliver Papworth CHESHIRE – Mr J J Pendlebury CORNWALL – Mr J Bray DEVON – Captain N R Radcliffe DSO DORSET – Mr C P Goodden DURHAM – Mr T A Bulmer GLAMORGAN – Mr T A L Whittington HERTFORDSHIRE – Dr J Earl Norman KENT (2 nd XI) – Mr T Pawley LINCOLNSHIRE – Mr S T Watkins MONMOUTHSHIRE – Mr E S Phillips STAFFORDSHIRE – Mr W C Hancock SUFFOLK – Messrs P P Cornell and H A Groom SURREY (2 nd XI) – Mr A W F Rutty WILTSHIRE – Mr A M Miller YORKSHIRE (2 nd XI) – Messrs R W Frank and F C Toone. CARMARTHENSHIRE (who did not compete in the Championship), NORFOLK, and NORTHUMBERLAND were not represented. It is to be noted that, although YORKSHIRE (2 nd XI) were represented at the meeting, they did not take part in the 1913 Championship. Mr R H Mallett was elected to the chair and, after the minutes of the last general meeting had been confirmed, Mr R W Allen (Bedfordshire) proposed and Mr W C Hancock (Staffordshire) seconded the reappointment of Dr J Earl Norman (Hertfordshire) as hon. secretary. This was carried. The three representatives on the Advisory County Cricket Committee, Dr J Earl Norman, Mr R H Mallett, and Mr A M Miller (Wiltshire) were also re-elected, on the proposal of Mr T A L Whittington (Glamorgan), which was seconded by Mr T A Bulmer (Durham). Dr Earl Norman proposed, and Major Oliver Papworth (Cambridgeshire) seconded, the proposal that the committee would again consist of one representative apiece from Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Glamorgan, Staffordshire, Surrey (2nd XI) and Wiltshire. 4
