Durham had won the match at Cambridge the previous week. Durham had a first innings lead of 163 runs, but Proud opted not to enforce the follow on. On the morning of the second day rain threatened but never fell. For the winners there were 23 fours in Hendren’s second innings 116, which was scored in 90 minutes. In the Durham first innings Bradford scored 68 and Proud 56 which included 1 six and 9 fours. In the Durham second innings Bradford and Hendren put on 124 runs for the first wicket. Harry took 10 wickets in the match for 104 runs, with 3 wickets for 31 runs in the first innings and 7 wickets for 73 runs in the second. In the Cambridgeshire first innings Morris took 6 wickets for 34 runs. For the losers, Carpenter top scored with 41 in the Cambridgeshire second innings. In the Durham first innings Wilson took 6 wickets for 84 runs.
