Cornwall had to follow on after being bowled out in just 45 minutes. For the winners, Silverlock, E S Phillips and F G Phillips all scored forties. Silverlock took 10 wickets for 43 runs in the match, including figures of 6 wickets for 12 runs in Cornwall’s first innings. Gilbert took 10 wickets for 62 in the match, including figures of 6 wickets for 55 runs in Cornwall’s second innings. Apart from the opening over, which was delivered by F G Phillips, Gilbert and Silverlock bowled unchanged through both Cornwall innings. For the losers, Barnes top-scored with 39, an innings which contained 8 fours. In Monmouthshire’s innings Whiting took 5 wickets for 48 runs and Holman took 5 wickets for 42 runs.
