The Lincolnshire declaration left Durham needing to score 276 runs to win the match in around 160 minutes. For Lincolnshire Rose scored 101 not out and added 79 runs unfinished with Riley for the last wicket in the second innings. Day scored 84 with 1 six and 10 fours and Broughton 52 with 10 fours. Riley took 5 wickets for 62 runs in the Durham first innings. For Durham Hendren scored 74 with 6 fours and Dales 68 not out with 1 six and 10 fours. In their first innings Hendren and Graham added 112 runs for the fourth wicket. Morris took 5 wickets for 108 runs in the Lincolnshire first innings. This was the first time that a Championship match had been played at this ground.
