The fixture list reduced to eight matches as Durham and Northumberland replaced Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Lincolnshire as opponents. Only two batsmen passed 300 runs for the season – Herbert Carpenter with 340 at 22.66 and Herbert Tebbutt, the captain, with 336 at 30.54. Once again the bowling relied heavily on Harry Coulson who took 31 wickets at 24.90. He was supported by Thomas Sadler with 22 rather expensive wickets at 32.45 each. During the season career milestones reached were 1000 runs by Keith Reid and 300 wickets by Harry Coulson.
