C S Awdry – Wiltshire 1895-1913 (born 23 March 1877; died 25 March 1918) Charles Selwyn Awdry was a member of the Awdry cricketing family. He was born on 23rd March 1877 in St Pancras, Middlesex the son of Charles a former Wiltshire County Club player and President. His brother was Robert William, and he was the father of Charles Edwin, Ambrose Leonard, and Henry Godwin all members at various times of the Wiltshire County team. He himself started playing for the County in 1895 playing in 112 Championship matches. His run total was 3633 with an average of 23.74 and a highest score of 160 not out against Buckinghamshire at the Swindon County Ground in 1908. He also played an additional 17 matches and totalled 4246 runs in all county matches. He rarely bowled and took only one wicket. For the period 1902-1910 he was the County Club Chairman.
