They had also defeated Wiltshire, by an innings and 7 runs at Westbury earlier in the month. For the winners there were 1 five and 22 fours in Abel’s 126 in an innings of just 75 minutes and Burrows scored 58 not out. Gilligan took 5 wickets for 53 runs in Wiltshire’s first innings. Sullivan caught 2 batsmen and stumped 2 more in the match. For the losers there were 1 five and 13 fours in C S Awdry’s 115, an innings lasting 105 minutes. He added 103 with Bond in less than an hour for the first wicket in Wiltshire’s second innings. Mitchell took 5 wickets for 71 runs in Surrey’s first innings.
