A ‘generous’ declaration by Sewell, the Buckinghamshire captain, allowed Bedfordshire to win this encounter against expectations. The match between the two sides at Goldington Road, Bedford had also been won by Bedfordshire. For the winners Holdstock scored 71, Nicholas 56 and Morcom 51 not out. In the Bedfordshire first innings Morcom and Brown added 55 runs for the last wicket. In the Buckinghamshire first innings R H King took 6 wickets for 117 runs. For the losers Sewell scored 109 and Frith 68 in the Buckinghamshire first innings. In the Buckinghamshire first innings Sewell and Kent put on 150 runs for the first wicket. During the tea interval on the first day a presentation was made to Mat Wright of a silver salver to commemorate his 21 years of service to Buckinghamshire cricket, both for the County and Eton College.
