In this time Wiltshire bowled no fewer than 41 overs. For the winners there were 1 six and 9 fours in Goodden’s 74, Walby scored 65with 10 fours and 60 not out. Goodden and Walby added 144 for the sixth wicket in Dorset’s first innings. Cummins took 5 wickets for 38 runs in Wiltshire’s first innings. For the losers Awdry top-scored with 49 in their second innings. Overton took 5 wickets for 89 runs in Dorset’s first innings and Mitchell took 5 wickets for 59 runs in Dorset’s second innings. Newman was absent from the Wiltshire side as he had sustained an elbow injury in their previous match. Dorset’s Stone arrived shortly after their first innings closed and Awdry sportingly offered to allow him to bat but Goodden would not take advantage of the offer. Hurn developed tonsillitis and was confined to bed.
