Play was suspended at 4.15 pm on the second day, at which point Hertfordshire declared. However further rain curtailed the match. For the visitors there were 9 fours in Golding’s 93 and 8 fours in Titchmarsh’s unbeaten 84, the pair adding 164 for the third wicket in the second innings. Titchmarsh also top-scored in Hertfordshire’s first innings with 49. Burton took 6 wickets for 23 runs in Buckinghamshire’s first innings, during which he and Shelford bowled unchanged. For Buckinghamshire Frith top-scored with an unbeaten 44. Samms took 5 wickets for 17 runs on debut and Sewell took 5 wickets for 57 runs, both in Hertfordshire’s first innings.
