The match between the two sides at Bushey in July had also been drawn with Hertfordshire winning on first innings. Heavy rain prevented any play after lunch on the first day, and the second day’s play was focussed on which team would gain points for first innings lead. Suffolk opened their innings after lunch requiring 270 runs to gain first innings points, but rain at 3.30 pm interrupted play for half-an-hour. Wrinch and F L Titchmarsh added 103 runs for the fifth wicket. With 30 minutes remaining Suffolk still required 40 runs, but they fell just 10 runs short. For the visitors, C H Titchmarsh’s 93 contained 12 fours. For the home side Wrinch scored 76. [Missing: Umpires; extras breakdown; in Hertfordshire innings fall of ninth wicket; in Suffolk innings boundaries in Wrinch’s 76, and fall of eighth wicket.] Sources: East Anglian Daily Times 8,9,12 August; Sporting Life 8,9 August; The Sportsman 8,9 August; Cricket 17 August, p 431. 85
