MInor Counties Championship 1912
THE MINOR COUNTIES CHAMPIONSHIP 1912 INTRODUCTION This book contains the match scores, a statistical survey and the full averages, both by county and by player in alphabetical order, for 1912, which was the eighteenth season of the Minor Counties Championship. It follows the same format as the previous ACS publications which covered the first seventeen seasons of the competition. THE ANNUAL MEETING The Annual Meeting of the Minor Counties Association was held in the committee room at Lord's on the morning of Wednesday 6 December, 1911. There was not much business for consideration but discussions about the fixture of a combined team to play the tourists from South Africa prolonged the proceedings. Even so, the meeting was concluded in less than 45 minutes. The following representatives from affiliated counties were in attendance:- BEDFORDSHIRE – Messrs R W Allen and W W Marks BERKSHIRE – Sir C E M Y Nepean and Major Chas. Turner BUCKINGHAMSHIRE – Mr E H D Sewell CAMBRIDGESHIRE – Major Oliver Papworth CORNWALL – Mr J Bray DEVON – Captain N R Radcliffe DSO DORSET – Mr W Hatton Bridge DURHAM – Messrs A B Horsley and T A Bulmer GLAMORGAN – Mr T A L Whittington HERTFORDSHIRE – Dr J Earl Norman and Mr H M Harford KENT (2 nd XI) – Captain W McCanlis LINCOLNSHIRE – Mr S T Watkins MONMOUTHSHIRE – Messrs Aubrey Butler and E S Phillips NORFOLK – Mr C B Leathes Prior NORTHUMBERLAND – Mr J Gilman STAFFORDSHIRE – Mr W C Hancock SUFFOLK – Mr P P Cornell SURREY (2 nd XI) – Mr A W F Rutty WILTSHIRE – Mr A M Miller YORKSHIRE (2 nd XI) – Messrs R W Frank and F C Toone. CARMARTHENSHIRE and CHESHIRE were not represented. It is to be noted that, although YORKSHIRE (2 nd XI) were represented at the meeting, they did not take part in the 1912 Championship. Mr R H Mallett (Durham) was elected to the chair and, after the minutes of the last general meeting had been confirmed, Mr W W Marks (Bedfordshire) proposed and Major Turner (Berkshire) seconded the re-election of Dr J Earl Norman (Hertfordshire) as hon. sec. This was carried and a hearty vote of thanks ensued. The three representatives on the Advisory County Committee, Messrs R H Mallett, A M Miller and Dr J Earl Norman, were re-appointed. The committee would again consist of one representative apiece from Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Glamorgan, Staffordshire, Surrey (2 nd XI) and Wiltshire. 4
