For the winners Sewell took 12 wickets for 169 runs, with 7 wickets for 80 runs in the Bedfordshire first innings and 5 wickets for 89 runs in the second. Field, the debutant, scored 103 with 1 six and 14 fours, an innings of two and a half hours. E A Shaw scored 76 with 13 fours, B H G Shaw 65 with 6 fours, de Rothschild 59 with 7 fours, and Sewell 57 with 9 fours. In the Buckinghamshire innings Field and B H G Shaw had a second wicket partnership of 129 runs. For the losers Newman scored 53 not out, an innings of one hour, and Capt H C Potter 51 not out. Orr took 5 wickets for 189 runs in the Buckinghamshire innings. Grierson and Wharmby were injured spectators. The Buckinghamshire total of 505 runs was a new record for the County and not surpassed until 2013.
