The match was designated as a benefit match for S F Barnes and the sum raised was £390. Kent appeared destined for defeat when the sixth wicket of their second innings fell as their lead was then just three runs; however debutant Weighall with 52 and Leach-Lewis with 51 not out added 80 for their seventh wicket to help secure a draw. Powell took five wickets for 57 runs in the Staffordshire first innings. For Staffordshire Briggs scored 60, which included 6 fours. Barnes and Vost added 88 runs for the seventh wicket. Barnes took 6 wickets for 43 runs in the Kent first innings.
